What is Low Earth Orbit? 
Low Earth Orbit or LEO refers to satellite systems used in telecommunication. It is an Earth-centered orbit with an altitude of 2,000 km. 
LEO is used mainly for data communication such as email, video conferencing and paging
According to Kepler's third law, this corresponds to a semi-major axis of 8,413 km (5,228 mi).
 
Why LEO is used?
LEO provides high bandwidth and low communication latency. It requires the lowest amount of energy for satellite placement.
