According to the Dean of Harvard University, the following is the selection procedure which is followed by Harvard University:

 

1. first the applications are divided into 20 groups according to the cities like California, Texas
Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Columbia.

 

2. After this, a sub-committee of four to five Admissions Officers explores essays, transcripts, test scores, and recommendation letters.


The subcommittee also looks at what kind of race or student of the student.

 

3. After this, a summary sheet of every application is formed. Through the comments of the committee members, the candidates are rated between 1 to 6 rating points.

There are comments in this and the candidate gets between 1 to 6 ratings.

1 is the best and 6th is the lowest which eventually means that there is no possibility of admission.

 

4. The rating given to the candidates are based on academic, extracurricular, athletic and personal records.

As for the student's leadership skills and characters, these are taken into consideration in the personal category.

 

5. In the case of confusion, some applications are also given to other members of the subcommittee so that they can also write their rating.

A professor even reads the ratings.

 

6. After this, the file is sent to the Admission Committee of 40 people. That's the committee's final decision.
