The board's controller of examinations, Sanyam Bharadwaj made the aforesaid statement during the course of the webinar. He added that the students marked absent in both Term 1 and Term 2 exams will not be allowed in the compartment exams as all Class 12 compartment exams are conducted on the same day. He continued by saying that the conduct of compartment exams is different for Class 10 students, as the exams are conducted in a time period of 7 days.
Post this, the board officials stated that if the students have appeared for either of the two exams (Term 1 or Term 2), then they would be awarded the grades on the basis of the exam which they have appeared for. Besides this, if a student appears in only three or four exams and has to skip the remaining exams owing to Covid-19, then he/she will be awarded marks on the basis of a special scheme. Bharadwaj said, "The alternate grading scheme will be decided by the CBSE board at the appropriate time, which will aim to favour the students".
Notably, the CBSE Term 2 exams for students of Class 10 and 12 have begun from today at 7, 412 exam centers. Of these, 7, 279 centres are located in India while the remaining are situated overseas. The number of exam centres have gone up by 1,500 this year, in order to keep the Covid-19 infections at bay.
