According to the revised calendar of UPSC, the notification for the Combined Medical Services examination was scheduled to be released on July 22. The last date of application for this examination was August 11. The exam was scheduled to be conducted on October 22. The notification to be released today has been postponed. Significantly, this year, due to the corona epidemic, there is a delay in conducting this examination. Schools, colleges and higher educational institutions are closed due to the situation arising out of the coronavirus. Several competitive exams, including entrance exams, have also been postponed.
UPSC issues notification for this exam every year in April and the exam is held in July. But this time the exam is delayed. Last year, 965 posts were filled under CMS.
Out of which 300 posts were of Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Railways. There were 46 posts for Assistant Medical Officer in Indian Ordnance Factories. 250 posts were filled for junior scale posts in Central Health Services. Similarly, seven and 362 posts for General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council were for the posts of General Duty Medical GR-II in East Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, and South Delhi Municipal Corporation.
