Media reports state that the question papers of various subjects of Class 12 (HSC) Maharashtra Board Exams were gutted in a fire, which broke out on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Allegedly, the truck transporting the examination papers caught fire in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, following which the exam papers were charred and destroyed. Owing to this sudden tragedy, the Maharashtra HSC Board exams 2022 for certain subjects have been deferred for over a month.
Notably, the exams had been lined up from March 5 and 7, 2022 for the HSC and SSC students of the state. After the incident, MSBSHSE announced that it would conduct the examination from April 5 and April 7, 2022. Exams scheduled for March 5 include subjects such as German, Japanese, Hindi, Persian and Chinese language papers.
Meanwhile, the exams scheduled for March 7 include subjects like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Sindhi, Marathi, Gujarati, Arabic, Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu, French, Spanish and Pali. The aforesaid exams will now be held on April 5 and 7, respectively.
MSBSHSE chairperson Sharad Gosavi stated after the incident, "The truck that caught fire was transporting those papers for which the exam was supposed to be held on March 5 and 7, 2022. Since now the confidentiality of these papers is on stake, we have decided to reschedule these exams. Going by the protocol, these papers will have to be reset and reprinted for all nine divisions".
