JEE Main 2019 Registration: Aadhaar Not Mandatory

National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a notification mentioning the Aadhaar card number is not mandatory for registering for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019 and National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2018. 

 "Aadhaar card number is only an option and not a compulsion," reads the notification.

However, candidates appearing for JEE and NET can also provide other identity proof such as passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid government identity number.

What does NTA Notice say?
It is hereby clarified that while filling in online application form and as per the ‘Replica of Application Form’ given in Annexure VIII (UGC-NET Bulletin December 2018) in the drop down box regarding ‘identification type’ and as also given on page 11, the Aadhaar number is only one of the types of identification and is not mandatory.


JEE Main 2019 - Important dates

Online submission of application forms: September 1 to September 30, 2018

Downloading of admit cards: December 17, 2018

Dates of examination: January 6 to January 20, 2018

UGC-NET December  2018 - Important dates

Mode of examination: Computer-based
Registration dates: September 1 to 30, 2018
Downloading of admit cards: November 19, 2018
Date of examinations: December 9 to 23, 2018
Date of announcing results: January 10, 2019

On behalf of UGC, the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Examination Fees:
General:
Rs 800/-
OBC: Rs 400/-
SC/ST/Person with disabilities (PwD)/ Transgender: Rs 200

Till recently, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country.
