IIT Kharagpur hints towards deferment of GATE Exam 2022

GATE Exam 2022: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur on Saturday, January 22, 2022 issued a notification which hints towards the possible postponement of the GATE Exam 2022. The order to defer GATE Exam 2022 might be released anytime soon owing to the steeply rising Covid-19 cases across the nation. In addition to this, the students slated to appear in the examination have also sought the same decision through online campaigns and petitions.
Notably, the GATE Exam 2022 is scheduled to be conducted on February 5, 6, 12 and 13, the admit card for which has already been released on the official website of IIT Kharagpur at gate.iitkgp.ac.in on January 15. A footfall of around 8 lakh students is expected in GATE Exam 2022, as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is the most prominent exam in India for students seeking admission in IITs for PG courses and other students occupying vacant positions in Public Sectors.
The official notification released by IIT Kharagpur stated that due to the massive spike in Covid-19 cases, the GATE Exam 2022 might be postponed. It also added that all the students appearing for the exam must get vaccinated with immediate effect.
"The health and safety of all our examinees is of utmost priority. Keeping in view the current Covid-19 pandemic situation, all the exam dates mentioned on the website for the conduct of GATE Exam 2022 may change. If the situation exacerbates, the GATE Exam 2022 might be cancelled or postponed as the circumstances might be. All candidates are advised to get vaccinated immediately", IIT Kharagpur's official notification read.
Earlier, the director of IIT Kharagpur, Virendra Kumar Tewari had stated that the decision on conduct of GATE Exam 2022 will be taken after carefully reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the country.
