As informed by the DoE, the promotion policy was brought into force for Class 9 and 11 students in view of the circumstances prevailing due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. Director of Education, Delhi, Himanshu Gupta said, "In view of the exceptional circumstances posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the revised promotion policy 2020-21 has been extended for the academic year 2021-22 too".
Post declaration, all government, government-aided and private schools of Delhi have been directed by the DoE to comply with the issued guidelines. In case a school wants to adopt their own criterion, it must seek the approval of DoE before result declaration.
Marking scheme as per Promotion policy 2020-21:
As per the promotion policy developed in the academic year 2020-21, results of students of Class 9 and 11 will be evaluated for promoting them to the successive grade, i.e. Class 10 and 12 on the basis of the following:
- Marks secured by them in Term 1 mid-term exams.
- Marks secured in Term 2 final exams.
- Internal assessment marks, grades obtained in project submissions.
- Marks obtained in practical exams.
The policy states that the passing criteria for the students has been fixed as 33% (33 marks out of 100) in all the five subjects separately. In case a student fails to achieve the needful, minimum 15 grace marks shall be awarded to him/her to reach the minimum required score, either in one or any of the subjects. Currently, this policy applies only to students of Class 9 and 11.
