Mumbai University Gets It’s first graduated Transgender, Here is the Inspiring Story

Santosh Londhe prefers to be called by her adopted name Sridevi made a new history. Three Years ago Sridevi enrolled at the University of Mumbai and now she has become a first transgender student who got graduated.

Sridevi declared herself a transgender in 2017 when she joined the BA course at the university. She has completed a double major in Psychology and Sociology last month. She is the first transgender who officially enrolled in the university, though the university may have had the students who were Transgender in the past as stated by TOI.

She has enrolled herself at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for Masters in psychology. Speaking on the occasion, Sridevi said, "If you want a war to complete graduation, then it is more difficult to get a job."

She is working in electronics’ company. She also mentioned in difficulties of getting a job as no one considers transgender.

Through an NGO she is teaching underprivileged children in the evening and probably the first transgender to do that.

She had a tough time dealing with the parents. She moved out from the home and got a rented place on her own in Mumbai which was again a tough task in the city.
She is training herself in the Bharatnatyam and spends time gardening whenever she is free.

Her story has been featured in short films as well as in documentaries. and now she is looking forward to celebrating her 36th birthday.
