On the 73rd Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses India from the ruins of Red Fort today, August 15, 2019.

It was the first Independence Day speech of his second term. During the speech, PM Modi conveyed the nation with the achievements and future plans of his government.

PM Modi pointed out the scrapping of Article 370 and Article 35A saying his government neither propagate problems nor keeps them pending. PM Modi said India has truly achieved ‘one nation, one constitution’ with the
Kashmir move. 

Here are the Main Highlights of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Oration:

- PM Modi began his speech by expressing condolences to those who lost their lives in the floods in the country. 

- Illuminating the decision to revoke the special status of the Jammu and Kashmir region PM Modi said, "their women" should get their rights. "My Dalit brothers should get their rights.

- Talking about the rights of people of Jammu & Kashmir, PM Modi said that now the central government is directly accountable to them. The new system designed is for the direct benefit of the people on the ground.

-  Elaborating the tax system in India PM Modi said, we have simplified the complicated tax system in India, we implemented one nation-one tax. In Power, we implemented one nation-one tax. 

- For the automobile sector, the government has implemented one nation-one mobility card. Discussions around one nation-one election are on, such discussions must go on in a democratic way, PM Modi added to his
statement.

- Government has implemented many schemes to move out of poverty and to develop the country. 

- Although the water crisis is ongoing in some parts of the country. Half the households in India have no access to drinking water. 

- From the ramparts of Red Fort, PM Modi announced to launch Jal Jeevan Mission to provide drinking water to all. The state govt will work with the Centre. A fund of Rs 3.5 lakh crore will be allotted for this mission.

- Encouraging the family planning to deter population explosion in India PM Modi said, "I want to address the issue of population explosion in the country. I want you to do proper family planning and you will naturally see
that a smaller family can be happier. Your family will be away from diseases, will have more resources."

- Prime Minister "in the last five years, 1,450 laws have been abolished. Ease of doing business is one aspect where we have earned many achievements."

- The government will invest Hundred lakh crore to conduct infrastructural developments in India. The amount will be implemented for the betterment of airports, railway stations, roads, highways, etc.

- PM Modi once again reiterated his dreams of a five trillion dollar economy and said we can achieve this target. If every citizen starts contributing to the nation, we can achieve this.

- Talking about peace and security, PM Modi urges world must unite to fight terrorism.

- The big announcement  PM Modi made today is about the post of Chief of Defence Staff who will oversee all three forms of defense in India. "This has been a demand for a long time. India cannot think as separate
entities. All three forms of India's defence needs to come together," Modi said.

- PM Modi said, "From the ramparts of Red Fort in 2014, I remember pitching for open-defaecation free India. Today, I want to introduce the idea of single-use plastic in India." Encouraging people to shift to cloth bags.

- PM Modi urges every family must visit at least 15 tourist destinations to boost the tourism economy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concludes his 73rd Independence Day speech with "Jai Hind" and "Vande Mataram" slogans as an enthused crowd followed his lead. 

The program comes to an end with the chorus of National anthem.
