Delhi government is introducing the STEM education for girl students in its schools. The step has been taken by the government to increase the interests of girls towards science field.

STEM refers to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. 

♦ The consulting firm EY urge for the development of EY STEM Tribe a mobile platform in collaboration with the Tribal Planet, a technology platform company based in Silicon Valley.
 
♦ It is often seen that boys show more interest than girls to study in the science stream. The objective of STEM is to increase the interest of more and more girls in the science field.

♦ During a press conference, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia made an announcement at the launch of the mobile app named EY STEM Tribe. The app featured modules on Science and Technology like climate change, space exploration, artificial intelligence, 3D printing or blockchain.

♦ Manish Sisodia said that “Only 2% of the CEOs and only 1% of the CFOs are female in India. Higher secondary classes of Delhi government schools have 57% of students as females while only 43% are in the science stream.

♦ He further added, "Through this app, we want to encourage girls so that they can achieve the 21st-century skills. This will help them get jobs not only in India but also outside the country."

♦ As technology continues to shape the future, providing equal opportunities to girls to pursue high-growth STEM careers has become imperative.

♦ "We are pleased to launch this global initiative in India, that will enable STEM learning for 6000 girls across 45 private and government schools in Delhi NCR, and has the potential to scale rapidly, empowering young girls to learn STEM in a pragmatic and contemporary manner," said by Rajiv Memani, Chairman and Regional Managing Partner, EY India.

♦India is the first country to take such an initiative which will provide an entertaining and gamified STEM learning experience to over 6,000 girls in Delhi NCR.
