Budget 2024: The UGC budget has increased to ₹19,024 crore from ₹17,473 crore in the previous financial year. According to UGC Chairman Professor M. Jagadesh Kumar, this represents a nine percent increase.
He noted that the total budget for higher education has seen an approximate eight percent rise. ₹255 crore has been allocated for establishing three new centers for Artificial Intelligence. The school education budget has increased by 19.56% this time.
Compared to the 2023-24 fiscal year, an additional ₹12,024 crore has been allocated for school education this year. ₹73,498 crore has been allocated for school education and ₹47,619 crore for higher education.

Now, Indian government employees will face no difficulties in receiving training abroad. An allocation of ₹309.74 crore has been made for this purpose. This allocation falls under the ₹2,328.56 crore earmarked for the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions for the current financial year.
Of the total ₹309.74 crore, ₹103.05 crore is allocated for the Training Division, Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). ₹120.56 crore is allocated for training programs, and ₹86.13 crore is allocated for the National Program or Mission Karmayogi for civil service capacity building.
The Training Division under the Ministry of Personnel organizes various programs, including foundation courses, refresher courses, and mid-career training at ISTM in Delhi and LBSNAA in Mussoorie, to ensure that officials at all levels/grades in the secretariat receive adequate experience in the latest rules, regulations, and qualifications.
