Students of the new law college hostel affiliated under Calcutta University today resumed their demonstration outside the Vice-Chancellor's office, to protest alleged ragging of four junior students on November 9.

The students had partially lifted the sit-in demonstration, which began yesterday evening, to allow VC Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee to leave for home.

"This is a symbolic protest against the VC's chair. We demand the university takes exemplary action against the guilty students and stop ragging by a section of seniors at the law college," one of the agitating students said.

They alleged that the varsity has taken no action on the issue, in spite of informing the VC five days back.

The VC has said the varsity will conduct a probe if there was specific complaint from the students who were allegedly ragged.

The agitating students, about 30 in number, claimed they did not belong to any political group.
