IIM Calcutta, the first triple crowned management school of the country, got the honour of participating in the global interactive platform of oikos FutureLab 2017 in Switzerland, an IIM-C statement said today.

More than 140 participants, including 76 students from 23 countries, took part in the oikos FutureLab 2017 on October 12-14, it said.

Participants came from among others the University of St Gallen, the Warsaw School of Economics, the New York University School of Law, the XLRI Jamshedpur, the London School of Economics, the University of Maryland and the Oxford University.

Members of NGOs working on environment and sustainability and special delegates from the Swiss government were also present at the event.

The oikos Kolkata, which is one of the 47 chapters of the oikos International, has chosen 'Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Sustainability' as their topic at the meet.

The IIMC speaker at the oikos Futurelab workshop Prof Runa Sarkar highlighted various applications of Artificial Intelligence in the fields of education, ecology, health care, governance and urban mobility in the event, it said.

She also discussed about jobs that might be replaced by AI and the new ones to be created.

The oikos is an international student-driven organisation for sustainability in economics and management and founded in 1987 in Switzerland.

FutureLab is the annual event of oikos International where people from around the world gather to exchange ideas, scope and opportunities to design a sustainable strategy for the future.

The oikos Kolkata chapter was established in IIM Calcutta in 2012.

The IIM-C has been accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development's (EFMD) Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

It has thus become the first Indian business school to achieve the Triple Crown in accreditation by all the three major agencies in management education.
