Make The Most Of Digital Media For Academic Studies: Assam CM Tells Students

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today exhorted students to take maximum benefit of the new age digital media while pursuing their academic studies.

'Knowledge is power and in this age of globalization, information technology has significantly altered many aspects of life and students must take maximum benefit of the digital medium in their academic life," Sonowal said while presenting the Anundoram Barooah Award to 15,738 meritorious students who secured 75 per cent or above marks in Higher Secondary or its equivalent examinations in the state.

He, however, also cautioned students about the perils of cyber crime and advised them to stay clear of it.

"Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has called North East as the engine of new India. This will come into reality only when you take the driver's seat and take the lead in developing a new Assam," the chief minister said.

The future of the nation depends on young minds and they should work with harmony, transparency and integrity.

'"There are certain forces which are trying to disrupt peace. You will have to stand against the divisive forces and promote these ideals," he said.

Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state government will provide scooters to first 1,000 successful girl students of High School leaving examination from this year.

He also said the state government is working on strengthening the elementary education system and within one year has appointed around 31,000 TET qualified teachers within a year.

The Anundoram Barooah Award carries a laptop with free internet connection for two years, course curriculum of five subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce streams in text, audio as well as video form and free high quality software containing preparatory material for MBBS and Engineering entrance examinations.
