The Tamil Nadu Board Exams for class 10 has been cancelled by the Tamil Nadu Government.

The TN SSLC exams were scheduled to be conducted from June 15, 2020, in the state.

The situation is not convincing enough to hold exams in the state due to high numbers of coronavirus cases, according to Tamil Nadu CM.

Madras High Court had almost made it clear in its statement that it is convinced to restrain the state from conducting Board exams for class 10th. The court was to take a decision on June 11 on TN SSLC exams.

The court asked if the Tamil Nadu government can give an undertaking if no child would be infected with COVIDD19 once the exams begin, on June 8, 2020. The court said, “ We cannot allow the state to put lives of more than 9 lakh students at stake. This is not like opening Tasmac shops during the lockdown”, as per a report.

Over 9 lakh students were enrolled to appear for these public exams.

The subjects for which exams could not be held for class 11 include chemistry and accountancy. The supplementary and arrear exams for 12th standard students are postponed and fresh dates will be announced later.
