NEET UG 2024: The Union government has informed the Supreme Court that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 counselling schedule is planned to release in the upcoming third week of July.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announced that NEET UG counselling 2024 will be conducted in four rounds. This information was provided in a new affidavit submitted along with the IIT Madras report on the medical entrance exam results.
The detailed analysis conducted by IIT Madras, as per the Ministry of Education's order, found no mass or localized malpractice in the NEET exam, with the data displaying a bell-shaped curve in the results, indicating no abnormalities.
The Union government announced that the NEET counselling process will begin in the third week of July and will be conducted in four rounds. It warned that any candidate found to have benefited from malpractice would have their candidature cancelled at any stage of the counselling process or even afterwards, with seat allocation dependent on the timing of such cancellation.
NEET UG 2024: Counselling Procedure
- The NEET UG counselling 2024 process will allow students to change seats based on their preferences in the first and second rounds.
- Cancellation of seats before the third round will not impact overall counselling and allotment.
- The third round of NEET UG 2024 counselling is expected to begin in the second week of September.
- If candidature is cancelled after the third round, vacant seats can still be offered in subsequent rounds.
- Candidates allocated seats in earlier rounds will not be able to participate in subsequent rounds.
- If candidature is cancelled after the fourth and final round, vacant seats will be filled through an additional round, pending Supreme Court approval.
