Sainik Schools To Start Inducting Girls

Eliminating the gender differences,  Sainik Schools across the country will  induct girls from thenext academic year.  

"Infrastructure is being developed in the Sainik Schools across the country to ensure that these schools can soon start inducting girls as students," said
Dr Subhash Ramrao Bhamre, the minister of state for defence, on the sidelines of 48th All-India Sainik Schools’ Principals Conference.

The decision was taken by the principals of all 28 Sainik Schools on the concluding day of the 48th All-India Sainik Schools’ Principals Conference at Sainik School, Kunjpura, in the district on Friday.

While the Indian Armed Forces have had women officers since 1992, IAF inducted three women fighter pilots in 2016.

During his Independence Day speech this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the decision to grant women officers permanent commission.
