UP Constable Exam 2024: In Uttar Pradesh, the written examination for direct recruitment to 60,244 Constable positions will be held within five days, starting from 23 August. The UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has scheduled the exams for August 23, 24, 25, and August 30, 31. An interval has been provided between the exam dates due to the Krishna Janmashtami festival. Each day, the exams will be conducted in two shifts, with 5 lakh candidates participating. Candidates will be able to travel to the exam centers for free by bus.
The written exam for Constable recruitment, held on February 17 and 18, was canceled due to a paper leak. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had ordered the re-conduct of the exam within six months. Following this, the schedule for the re-examination has now been announced.

DG Rajeev Krishna, Chairman of the Recruitment Board, stated that the exam will be conducted on June 19 following the issued guidelines. The exam centers will be selected, candidate verification will be carried out, and measures will be implemented to prevent paper leaks, use of proxies, and copying, in accordance with all established standards.
Penalties for Malpractice in UP Constable Recruitment Exam
- New Anti-Paper Leak Law: The constable recruitment exam will be conducted under the new anti-paper leak law.
- Unfair Means: Use of any unfair means, hiring proxies, leaking question papers, or conspiring to leak papers will be prosecuted under the new law.
- Ordinance Notification: The UP Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance-2024 was notified on July 1.
- Prohibited Activities: Using unfair means, copying, impersonating, or attempting to leak question papers are considered criminal offenses under this ordinance.
- Penalties: Offenders may face fines up to ₹1 crore and/or life imprisonment.
Over 4.8 Million Candidates to Appear for the Exam
- Previous Statistics: Last time, 4,817,442 candidates applied, with 4,313,611 actually taking the exam.
- Re-Examination: Candidates who filled out the admit card for the previous exam will be allowed to participate in the rescheduled examination. New allocations for exam centers will be made.
Free Bus Travel for Candidates
- Bus Travel: To avail free bus travel, candidates need to download two additional copies of their admit card. One copy is for travel to the exam center and the other for travel back to their district after the exam. Both copies must be shown to the bus conductor.
1161 Government and Aided Institutions as Exam Centers
- Selection of Centers: The UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has selected 1,161 exam centers for the constable recruitment exam. To prevent paper leaks, centers will be located in government and aided educational institutions, all within a 10 km radius of district headquarters.
- New Admit Cards: Candidates will be issued new admit cards with allocated districts and exam center names.
Exam Details
- Offline Mode: The exam will be conducted offline, with answers marked on OMR sheets. The exam will be held in ten shifts over five days, with different question papers for each shift.
- Security and Confidentiality: Detailed guidelines are being provided to District Magistrates (DMs) and police chiefs for exam preparations. Different vendors have been selected for various tasks to ensure complete confidentiality.
- Exam Center Selection: Under the June government order, exam centers were selected by a committee headed by the DM, including officials from the district administration, police, and education department. Local intelligence reports and feedback from STF were considered.
Types of Exam Centers
- Category A: Government schools, degree colleges, universities, polytechnics, engineering colleges, and medical colleges.
- Category B: Aided educational institutions that were not previously listed as suspicious or blacklisted. The selection also considered their experience with exams over the past three years, availability of CCTV, transportation, and other resources.
Separate Vendors for Different Tasks
- Vendor Assignments:
- Vendor A: Responsible for preparing, printing, and dispatching question papers to district treasuries.
- Vendor B: Manages the transport of question papers from treasuries to exam centers, overall exam arrangements, and transportation of OMR sheets back to the board.
- Vendor C: Handles security at exam centers, including frisking, biometric capture, and CCTV control room operations.
- Vendor D: Responsible for scanning OMR sheets and providing the exam scoreboards at the board premises.
