A Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with Mathematics and English (studied as compulsory or elective subjects) conducted by any recognised Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/Union Territories in India shall be a mandatory educational qualification for all approved categories of GDS.
Candidates should have studied the local language up to at least a secondary standard as a compulsory or elective subject.
Other Qualifications: Candidates must possess knowledge of computers, cycling, and adequate means of livelihood.

Candidates are required to pay ₹100 as the application fee. However, the following categories are exempt from fee payment: all female/trans-woman candidates, and all SC/ST candidates.

The selection process comprises the shortlisting of candidates based on the marks obtained/conversion of Grades/Points to marks in the Secondary School Examination of the 10th standard of approved Boards, aggregated to a percentage accuracy of 4 decimals.
