CBSE - PC : Self
The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has decided to cancel the requirement of appearing for the CBSE Class 10 Mathematics Standard compartment examinations 2020, in view of COVID-19. Due to COVID19 pandemic, this is just applicable for this year i.e. 2020-21.

Meanwhile, the board has clarified that it would conduct compartment exams for classes 10 and 12, at a suitable time, the board has decided to forego its rule of clearing Mathematics Standard examinations as a one-time exemption for students.

In the year 2019-20, CBSE introduced basic maths for class 10 students. As per the rules shared by the board, all the students who opt for basic mathematics would not be eligible to take up mathematics in Class 11. This rule, however, had a proviso.

CBSE had stated in the year 2019 that all such students who take up basic maths and pass the paper in class 10 board examinations can then appear for the CBSE Class 10 compartment examinations for Standard Maths paper, which would be conducted in the same year, if they wish. If the student clears the standard maths compartment paper as well, the student will be eligible to take up Mathematics in Class 11.

However, this year, taking into consideration the pandemic situation and also the large number of students who had appeared for the CBSE Class 10 basic maths, the board has decided to – only for this year, remove the requirement. All such students will be able to opt for Mathematics in Class 11, without appearing for the compartment examinations.
