Rajasthan HC seeks qualifications, competency of PSC members
The Rajasthan High Court has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of the Personnel Department asking how competent are the members and experts of the state Public Service Commission.

Apparently irked with repeated complaints over recruitment examinations conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), Justice G K Vyas today asked the the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of the Personnel Department to submit their reply by 26 March when the matter would be taken up for further hearing.

The court issued these notices while hearing a petition by Goverdhan Singh Shekhawat who had challenged dentists recruitment examination conducted by RPSC. The petitioner claimed that unqualified candidates were selected by the RPSC, whereas the qualified ones like him were overlooked.

Without taking up the petition for hearing, Justice Vyas observed that hundreds of petitions are pending before the court pertaining to RPSC.

The court also observed that RPSC has been functioning in an arbitrary manner and questioned if it is capable to carry out its duty, and issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary (Personnel) seeking qualifications and competency of the RPSC members and selectors.
