It is noteworthy that the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a National fellowship program for Science students in basic sciences. The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has initiated and funded the KVPY scheme which is aimed at offering basic science courses and a research career in science to outstanding students. The students are shortlisted through the KVPY Aptitude Test and the ones who crack the test are called for the final round, interview.
The fellowship program for students of SA/SX/SB during the 1st to 3rd year of courses such as B.Sc/B.S./B.Stat/B.Math/Integrated M.Sc/M.S encompasses a monthly stipend of Rs 5000 and an annual contingency grant of Rs 20000. In addition to this, the SA/SX/SB during the 4th and 5th year of Integrated M.Sc/M.S./M.Math/M.Stat programs carries a monthly stipend of Rs 7000 and the annual contingency grant worth Rs 28000.
