DU Admissions 2019: Check Your Eligibility for 10% Reservation Under EWS

The online registration for the admission in Delhi University is concluding today that on June 14, 2019.

The admission is for various courses of Undergraduate programmes. The admission is through merit-based.
The students securing equal or more than the cutoff are eligible for the admission.

This year in January, The government announced a new reservation policy granting 10% reservation in government and educational institutions for the economically weaker sections  (EWS) of India's General category population. 

Following this, DU had facilitated a 10% increase in seats in all courses this year to accommodate EWS candidates in the general category.
Through EWS till June 14, 2019, 6893 students have registered.

Till now many candidates are not aware of the newly introduced provisions.
Check the eligibility criteria to be included in the EWS Quota.

Eligibility for EWS 

- 10% EWS reservation quota is only given to the candidates who belong to the General Category. As for the other categories, they already have reservation benefits such as OBC (27%), SC (15%) and ST (7.5%).
- The candidates belonging to the general category and whose family has a gross annual income below Rs 8 lakh can enjoy the benefit of reservation. 
- The candidates' family should not own any agricultural land of size 5 acres or above to be classified under EWS.
-  The family should not own or possess a residential flat of area 1000 sq.feet or more.  
- The family should not own or possess a residential plot of area 100 sq.yards or more in notified municipalities.
- To be classified under EWS, the family should not own or possess a residential plot of area 200 sq.yards or more in areas other than in notified municipalities.
