CTET December 2024: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the exam dates for the 20th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) due to administrative reasons. According to the official notices the CTET December 2024 exam will now be conducted on 15 December 2024. Earlier this exam was scheduled for 1 December 2024. 

According to the official notice,  “In case the number of candidates is more in any city, the exam may also be conducted on 14th December 2024.” The candidates may note that the application window for the same is still open and interested candidates can apply till 16 October 2024. 

The board has reduced the number of exam centers to 132 for the December session, following the July session, which had 184 cities. The CTET 2024 will take place in two shifts i.e. the morning shift will be commenced from 9:30 am to 12 pm, while the evening shift will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. 

The CTET will consist of two papers including Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates who wish to teach students from Classes 1 to 5 must take CTET Paper 1. Meanwhile, those who wish to teach students from Classes 6 to 8 are required to appear for CTET Paper 2. 

CTET December 2024: Eligibility criteria for Paper 1 
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. 
  • Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. 
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). 
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education. 
CTET December 2024: Eligibility criteria for paper 2
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd), BA, BScEd or BAEd, BScEd.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), BEd (Special Education).
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), following the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).
  • Any candidate having a qualified BEd Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET, CTET.
  • Post-graduation candidate with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated BEd-MEd.
