CTET 2024 Exam: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has again revised the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2024 exam date for the December session. Now, the exam will be conducted on 14 December 2024 instead of 15 December 2024. The decision has been taken following representations from candidates that a few competitive exams are scheduled for 15 December 2024.

According to the official notice, “Now, as per the information received from various candidates, few competitive examinations are scheduled to be held in some states/union territories on 15 December 2024 (Sunday). Hence, keeping in view the interest of the candidates, it has been decided to conduct the CTET examination on 14th December 2024 (Saturday). In case a number of candidates is more in any city, the exam may also be conducted on 15th December 2024.”

The board also informed that in case the number of candidates is higher in a particular city, the CTET December 2024 exam may also be conducted on 15 December 2024. The CTET 2024 December session exam was initially slated to be held on December 1 in 136 cities across the country. However, the 20th edition of the CTET exam was postponed to December 15 due to administrative reasons. 

The test will be conducted in two shifts – the morning shift from 9:30 am to 12 pm and the evening shift from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. The registration window for the same is open and the candidates can submit their applications by 16 October 2024. Interested candidates can apply for the CTET exam 2024 by visiting the official website i.e. ctet.nic.in. 
 
The CTET will consist of two papers including Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates who wish to teach students from Classes 1 to 5 must take CTET Paper 1. Meanwhile, those who wish to teach students from Classes 6 to 8 are required to appear for CTET Paper 2. 

CTET December 2024: Eligibility criteria for Paper 1 
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. 
  • Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. 
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). 
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education. 
CTET December 2024: Eligibility criteria for paper 2
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd), BA, BScEd or BAEd, BScEd.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), BEd (Special Education).
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), following the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).
  • Any candidate having a qualified BEd Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET, CTET.
  • Post-graduation candidate with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated BEd-MEd.
