CAPF Constable Exam to be Held in 13 Regional Languages: Home Ministry

In a historic decision, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the conduct of Constable (General Duty) examination for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in 13 regional languages apart from Hindi and English. This initiative, taken by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, aims to increase the participation of local youth in CAPFs and promote regional languages. In CAPFs, the question paper will be prepared in 13 regional languages apart from Hindi and English.
According to the Union Home Ministry, regional languages include Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri and Konkani. Lakhs of candidates will now be able to appear in the CAPFs examination in their mother tongue or regional language. The biggest advantage of this is that now the chances of selecting candidates who understand regional languages better will increase.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs and Staff Selection Commission will sign an addendum to the existing MoU to facilitate the conduct of examinations in multiple Indian languages. Constable (General Duty) is one of the major examinations conducted by the Staff Selection Commission, in which lakhs of candidates appear from all over the country. In addition to Hindi and English, the examination will be conducted beginning January 01, 2024, in 13 regional languages.
"The Ministry of Home Affairs, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, is fully committed to encouraging the use and development of regional languages," added the MHA statement.
Following this decision, it is expected that the State/UT Governments will launch a massive campaign to encourage the local youth to utilize this opportunity to take the exam in their mother tongue and come forward in large numbers to pursue a career in the service of the nation.
