West Bengal school news: Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee cleared the air on reopening of primary schools in the state. CM Banerjee said that the decision on resumption of offline classes in Primary schools of West Bengal is not expected anytime soon. She continued her statements by saying that after thoroughly reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the state, the decision on the same would be taken, for which still some time is remaining.
Informing at length about the same, CM Mamata Banerjee stated that as it is of paramount importance to exercise caution for children of junior classes, the government will wait for some more time before taking a call on the decision. She added that some experts have warned about the arrival of another variant of Covid-19, hence, precautions must be exercised.
Furthermore, CM Banerjee asserted that after evaluation of the Covid-19 situation in the state, if the new variant is found to be non-fatal and of less concern, schools will be resumed for junior classes in the offline mode with adherence to SOPs. This implies that the primary school students will then be allowed to attend offline classes, most likely on alternate days.
It is noteworthy that the decision on Primary schools reopening in West Bengal state is much awaited, as the offline academic activities for students of Class 8 to 12, as well as in colleges and universities of the state have already commenced from February 3, 2022. In addition to this, the government has also put forth an initiative to conduct 'Open-air classes' for students upto Class 7.
Notably, the reopening of primary schools in West Bengal will also depend on the take of school authorities' on the decision. After reviewing the situation, primary schools will be reopened after getting a nod from all the official bodies, which still seems distant for now.
