Delhi schools cannot raise fees nor can demand during Lockdown without the permission of the government.
Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia said on Friday that we are getting complaints against private schools asking for fees even for three months. Private schools are also seeking bus fares and annual fees from parents during the lockdown.
Without the government's permission, no school can raise fees at this time. The Education Minister said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ordered that no private school can hike the fees even if the school is running on government land or not.
He said that private schools can only demand tuition fees. No school will charge a fee of three months from the parents. Neither will the transportation fees be recovered from the parents during the lockdown.
The education minister also asked all private schools to pay salaries to their employees and teachers. If a school does not pay teachers and staff during lockdown then action will be taken against it. The Education Minister has asked all private schools to provide online education during the lockdown.
He said that if a parent is unable to pay the fees for online teaching, then the name of his child will not be removed from online teaching. The Education Minister has clearly stated that no private school will charge any fee except for one month's tuition fee.
