"Entry in schools of Haryana will be prohibited for such children who fall in the age group of 15-18 years and are unvaccinated. Whenever the schools reopen, unvaccinated children in the said age group will not be allowed to enter the school premises", said Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Currently, the schools in Haryana are shut due to exponentially rising Covid-19 cases in the state in the past fortnight. Health Minister Vij issued the aforesaid instruction during a meeting held with officials. The meeting was chaired to review the Covid-19 situation in the state. During the course of the meeting, Health Minister of the state Anil Vij urged the parents of school-going children aged between 15-18 years to administer vaccine doses to their wards as soon as possible.

His official statement also included that whenever schools reopen, unvaccinated children will be barred from entering the school premises. Haryana houses almost 15 lakh children who are eligible to receive the vaccine jab. Vaccination for this age group began on January 3 this year.

As the cases are steeply surging in the state, Minister Vij has directed to appoint two nodal officers for each district of the state. One nodal officer will monitor arrangements at the government hospitals while the other one will discharge the same duty at the private hospitals.

"These nodal officers will take stock of the arrangements available in both government and private hospitals of the state and will pass on the same information to the state government officials", Minister Vij said.
