Finance Ministry & NITI AAYOG Approves India's First Kendriya Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya

The Finance Ministry and the think tank of Government of India - National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) AAYOG has approved the to form the first Kendriya Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya. 

The policy will help in transforming Delhi based Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati will be transformed into Central University. However, the bill is pending to be passed by the Ministry of Law & Justice.

It has been expected that if centre approved the draft for transforming these Institutes to Kendriya Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya, the bill related to it will be passed in the winter session.

An official from the Ministry of Human Resource Development told the media that UGC had approved these three universities as a deemed university.

All these three Universities teaches courses in the Sanskrit language. That's why these universities have been selected to transform as the central university.

About Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan:

The Sansthan was established in 15th October 1970 as an autonomous organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Act XXI of 1860) for the development and promotion of Sanskrit all over the country. It is fully funded by Government of India. It functions as an apex body for propagation and development of Sanskrit and assists the Ministry of Human Resource Development in formulating and implementing various plans and schemes for the development of Sanskrit studies.
