Delhi Teacher’s University Proposal Approved by Cabinet, Students to Get Job-Oriented Training

The proposal to set up a Delhi Teacher’s University has been approved by the state cabinet today, on 20th December 2021. Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal, in a press conference, confirmed the state cabinet’s approval on setting up a university for the training of future generations teachers. Further, a bill for Delhi Teacher’s University will be presented in the next session of the assembly.


The CM said that the motive of the university will be to prepare excellent teachers through integrated courses. The students after qualifying for their class 12 examination would be able to enrol themselves in a 4-year integrated course- B.A-B.Ed, B.Com-B.Ed, and B.Sc-B.Ed. The admission process for the teacher training courses will start from the next academic session, 2022-23. The students in the Delhi Teacher’s University will be getting a job and practical training throughout the academic year. CM Arvind Kejriwal Tweeted, "Today, in the cabinet meeting, it was decided that the Delhi government is going to set up a Teacher's University, through which new generation teachers will be prepared. Its admissions will start in the 2022-23 session. It will be run in collaboration with international organizations.
 



CM Arvind Kejriwal mentioned that this university would be a centre for excellence in preparing students to become new generation teachers. In future, the university will get collaboration from institutes all around the globe. This collaboration will help in broadening the learning experience. The university also aims to conduct various research on teaching techniques for a bright teaching career ahead of its students. In a press conference, Delhi CM added that “Our aim is to prepare excellent quality teachers from this university through 4-year integrated courses.”
