One Stop Centre (OSCs) Scheme
  • The Central government has announced to set up One Stop Centres (OSCs) across 10 missions.
  • The scheme has been formulated to provided assistance to Indian women who are survivors of gender-based violence.
  • The One Stop Centre Scheme popularly known as Sakhi, has been formulated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD).
  • The scheme aims to support all women including girls below 18 years of age affected by violence, irrespective of caste, class, religion, region, sexual orientation or marital status.
  • Under the scheme, Central Government will provide 100% financial assistance to the State Government /UT Administrations and the scheme will be funded through Nirbhaya Fund.

Israeli Heron drones
  • Indian Army will receive four advanced Heron-II drones from Israel soon.
  • The Israeli Heron drones will be deployed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
  • Through this advanced surveillance system, Indian army will keep a watch on the Chinese activities in the Ladakh region.
  • The Heron Mark-II drones have been manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries. 
  • The medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) Heron Mark-II drones are the upgraded version of Heron UAVs.

Amartya Kumar Sen Conferred with Spain’s Top Award
  • Indian economist and Nobel Laureate, Amartya Kumar Sen, was conferred with Spain’s Top Award.
  • He has bestowed with the “Princess of Asturias Award” in social sciences category.
  • Amartya Kumar Sen was selected out of 41 candidates from 20 countries.
  • He has been selected for his best-known work- “Poverty and Famines”.
  • He was awarded Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and Bharat Ratna in 1999 in the category of welfare economics.
