India celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti on this day i.e. April 14, 2020, as a tribute to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, but due to COVID-19, there will be no gatherings for the celebration this year.

Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar popularly called as Baba Saheb was known to be the creator of Indian Constitution. He was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. He spent his entire life in the struggle against the four-pronged system of Hinduism and the caste system prevalent in Indian society.

On 31 March 1990, he was posthumously awarded with the Bharat Ratna.

Check out these amazing thoughts given by the Baba Saheb of India

- "If I find the constitution being misused, I shall be the first to burn it."

- “Constitutional morality is not a natural sentiment. It has to be cultivated. We must realise that our people have yet to learn it. Democracy in India is only a top-dressing on an Indian soil which is essentially undemocratic.”

- “I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved.”

- "Equality may be a fiction but nonetheless one must accept it as a governing principle."

- “Indifferentism is the worst kind of disease that can affect people.”

- “History shows that where ethics and economics come in conflict, victory is always with economics. Vested interests have never been known to have willingly divested themselves unless there was sufficient force to compel them.”

- "Life should be great rather than long"

- “I like the religion that teaches liberty, equality and fraternity.”

- "Humans are mortal, so are the ideas. An idea needs propagation as much as a plant needs watering. Otherwise, both will wither and die."
- "Though I was born a Hindu, I solemnly assure you that I will not die as a Hindu."
