JEE Main 2025 Exam: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 exam date soon. Session 1 is expected to be conducted in January-February 2025 and JEE Main 2025 registration is expected to begin next month. NTA has also announced the new official website for JEE Mains 2025 and scrapped optional questions from section B of both papers, papers 1 and 2. 

In the last four editions of the engineering entrance test, the question papers contained 90 questions – 20 each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in section A and 10 each from the three subjects in section B. Candidates had to attempt five questions each from the three subjects in section B.

JEE Main 2025 will be conducted twice to shortlist candidates for admission to undergraduate engineering, planning, and architecture courses at Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other technical institutions. It will also serve as the screening test for IIT JEE Advanced.

According to the official notice, “Since the declaration of the UN World Health Organization (WHO) on the COVID-19 as an end of Public health emergency on 05 May 2023, it has been decided to discontinue the optional selection of questions."

Also, "The examination structure would return to its original format, where Section B will contain only 5 (five) questions per subject, and candidates will be required to attempt all 5 (five) questions, without any options for selection in JEE (Main) 2025 for Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech), Paper 2 A (B Arch) and Paper 2 B (B Planning).”

JEE Main 2025 registration details

In a bid to register for the JEE Main, students will have to create a profile on NTA JEE Main official website using Digi locker account through the NAD portal, Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC ID) through the ABC ID, Indian passport number, non- Indian passport number, PAN card number, or Aadhaar enrollment number.

JEE Main question paper 2025 will consists of two papers.
Paper 1
Paper 1 for admission into BE, BTech at National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), other centrally-funded technical institutions (CFTIs) and universities funded by participating state universities.

Paper 2 
JEE Main paper 2 is held for admission to BArch and BPlanning courses.
