The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has recently released its manifesto for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) polls with the promise that over 50% of the union's budget will be spent on women and social justice related activities, along with a special attention to promoting sports and installing sanitary pad vending machines on college campuses.

The DUSU polls are scheduled for September 12.

ABVP national general secretary Ashish Chauhan said, "The name ABVP itself includes the whole manifesto -- 'A' stands for 'academic, sports and co-curricular reforms', 'B' for 'Bharat first', 'V' for 'vision for world-class infrastructure, transportation and facilities' and 'P' for 'pledge for women's safety, security and gender sensitisation'."

The RSS-affiliated students' union's presidential candidate for the polls, Ankiv Basoya, said the ABVP-led DUSU was committed to spending more than 50 per cent of its budget on women and social justice related activities.

He added that if elected to power, they would pay special attention to sports-related activities.

Basoya also mentioned issues like remedial classes for SC, ST, OBC and economically backward students, a 24x7 reading room on the university campus and one-course-one-fee for all the post-graduate courses.

He also batted for internship opportunities for students in different ministries and government institutions.

ABVP candidate for the post of joint secretary Jyoti Chaudhary talked about her commitment to making the campus safe for women. She also assured that sanitary napkin vending machines will be installed in all the DU colleges.

ABVP state secretary Bharat Khatana said they had prepared a "student-centric" manifesto.

The ABVP said they would be releasing a separate "sports manifesto" in the next couple of days.
