VIT Beats IITs in Top Research Paper Publications.
A publication of quality research papers is a proud moment for every institution. A brilliant accomplishment, Vellore Institute of Technology has outstripped the best and esteemed colleges of the country- the IITs in top research paper publications.

VIT University had more than 700 publications by the end of the year 2016. These number of publications are much more than the number of publications of the coveted and countries best institutes like IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore had been topping the chart in previous years by having the highest number of publications out of all the Indian universities. It was also astounding to witness that the private universities like Sastra, Thapar, SRM, Amity and Manipal were not far behind and they too managed to get a better rank in the list as compared to IIT’s and NIT’s.

With a top score of more than 700 publications in 2016, VIT has become the top institute in the field of publishing the research papers, as per Scopus Database dated January 5, 2017. With this score, the total count has become 2,598. This is the highest ever count which also exceeds the Indian Institutes of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore, which has been the leading institute until now.

The self-financing institutes have managed to achieve an eminent position in the field of research. The story of Israel is quite motivating as more than 100 patents are filled every year and academicians are acknowledged as industrialists. We can also hope to have more funds for research in our country.

The Associate Dean of research of the VIT University feels that it is because of management and their all-round support that they were able to outperform. This was found true to the core because the management of VIT has always supported the research and has been increasing the funds every year. VIT University has instituted nearly 1,151 research awards worth Rs. 25 lakh this year, as compared to 931 awards amounting to Rs. 22 lakh last year.
