Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission chairman Chandra Bhushan Paliwal has stepped down from his post.

Paliwal, a retired 1981 batch IAS officer, was appointed as new Chairman of the Commission in January 2018. His resignation comes a day after Reserve Bank of India Governor Urjit Patel has resigned from his post, making him the first governor since 1990 to step down before his term ends.

“Chandra Bhushan Paliwal resigns from the post of the chairman of Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) citing ‘personal reasons’,” tweeted ANI.

Following reports of errors in the scores of the selected candidates and corruption, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has now come under the purview of the CBI inquiry.

The interview board will be questioned for allotting more marks to candidates who qualified exams such as Provincial Civil Service, Lower Subordinate, RO-ARO, reports naidunia.jagran.com.

The report comes two years after the Allahabad High Court declared illegal the appointment of Dr. Anil Yadav as UPPSC Chairman. Following the court order another allegation, that of "favouritism in selections" done during Dr. Yadav's regime as Chairman of the prestigious institution will be under the scanner.
