Teachers Day 2018: Know Why Hadiyol Village Is Called 'Land of Teachers'
Teachers Day 2018
A society can only progress when it reaps good teachers who can nurture and shape the career of students.

"Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September is observed as Teachers' Day," replied Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, philosopher-author, when some of his students and friends requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday.

Keeping the exemplary teacher’s spirit alive, a village in Gujarat is determined to produce quality teachers to build a prosperous nation.

Hadiyol - a village in the district of Sabarkantha in north-east Gujarat - has established a unique example. In this village, one person from every house is in the teaching profession.

While the total population of Hadiyol is 6000 people, 1000 residents of the village are in the teaching profession.

"The foundation of this village's achievement began in 1955. At that time, only three people from the village were teachers. The Rawal couple opened the village's first school in a temple. The couple formed the 'World Mangalam Anera' institution to drive the education campaign," explains Sanjay Patel, Head of Sabarkantha Primary Teacher's Association.

The campaign of education started in Hadiyol village and spread across the state. Since then there has been a significant increase in the number of teachers in the nearby  Akodara, Pural and Gathoda village.
