Rahul asks for duty cut on equipments for blind students
Rahul Gandhi on Monday wrote a letter to Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman demanding reduction in customs duty on import of special equipment for visually-impaired students.

 
According to reports, motivated by a student's letter whom he had met while on his trip to Bengaluru last week, has sought his help in this regard.

 A visually impaired, Chandana Chandrasekhar is a B.Com student of Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru has written to Rahul, urging him to highlight their problems. According to Chandana, "Earlier, all imports of specialised equipment like Braille paper, embossers etc, used to be exempt from customs duty but at present there's no respite from duties.

Rahul in his letter to Commerce Minister quoting Chandana’s suggestion, wrote that the reduction of custom duties on these items will help the visually-impaired students to get educated and empowered. And will be eagerly waiting for any action in this regard.
