Emphasizing on the quality of education, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday said that only 40 engineering students get placement.
During question hour at the Rajya today, Javadekar pointed out that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has decided to introduce summer internships in a bid to improve the placement scenario.
The minister reiterated that government has set up a target of making at at least 60 percent of engineering graduates in the country are employable in the next five years.

Javadekar's remark comes a day after AICTE instructed engineering colleges to refund fees and return certificates to students if they withdraw before starting the course or leave midway. The new rule will be applicable from this academic session.
