No more recruitment due to surplus of teachers, says minister
Maharashtra''s minister of state for school education and public health Fouzia Khan said here today that there would be no recruitment of teachers to schools, since the state already had a surplus of teachers.

Addressing press conference at a government rest house here today, she said that due to large scale irregularities during the education census conducted in schools across the state, the government would not recruit new teachers.

Many schools were found showing bogus students and drew salaries in the name of surplus teachers, she said, adding that the census revealed that the teacher-student ratio is less than 1:25 and in some places it is 1:9.

The government has introduced a teachers eligibility test (TET) for aspiring teachers, she said.

She also said that a state-level convention of Federation of All Minority Educational Organisations (FAEM) would be held on November 10, at Aurangabad, where demands and problems of minority institutions would be discussed.
