No More Heavy Weighted School Bags: Pilot Project Started By MHRD

Government is in favour of reducing the weight of school bags. A pilot project has been initiated in kendriya Vidyalayas to provide digital learning to students.

Minister of HRD, Prakash Javedkar stated that the National Council of Education Training (NCERT) has suggested only language and mathematics books (only two) for class I and II and three books suggested for class III to V.

Student’s textbooks will be available for free access through the web and mobile devices.

CBSE schools has been directed to ensure that the students should not carry school bags upto class II and also has asked to take up measures to keep school bag light-weighted.

25 Kendriya Vidyalaya class VIII will be provided tablets on pilot basis.

The minister also added that on digital education more than 50,000 schools are being upgraded and Maharashtra has already started digital schools.
