No decision to ban recruitments: Minister
Kerala government has not decided to impose ban on new recruitments in government services and only a recommendation to temporarily stop creating new posts was under the consideration of the government, Finance Minister K M Mani said on Sunday.

Apparently referring to criticism that government move was due to financial crisis in the wake of new liquor policy, Mani said the recommendation has nothing to do with the new policy.

Mani said his yesterday's statement that government was considering to halt creating new posts was “misunderstood” by a section of the society.

Mani's clarification came in the light of protests raised by youth wing of Congress and IUML against the government move. The Minister also made it clear that government would not take any decision that affect the job prospects of youths in the state.

After the Congress led UDF government came to power, more than one lakh persons were given employment through Public Service Commission till August 30, he pointed out.

He said there was no change in the stand of his party on the liquor policy, adding, "myself and my party Kerala Congress (M) is with the decision unitedly by the cabinet and UDF and reports contrary to this was not correct".
