The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday clarified that National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 will be counted as the first attempt, following protests from medical students against the rule that candidates will only get three attempts the exam.
While the decision was taken during UGC meeting in the national capital on Tuesday, it was also decided that candidates appearing for NEET exam should be between 17 and 25 years old.
However, age for students from the reserved category will be 30 years.
What is NEET?
NEET - a single entrance test conducted for admissions to approximately 52,305 MBBS and BDS seats in India.
“Issue of number of attempts in NEET sorted out. Clarification received…. That NEET 2017 will be treated as first attempt and two more will be given,” tweeted Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar.
