Medical test exemption for refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh scrapped: MEA

The MEA has scrapped medical test exemption for refugees from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

While the decision comes after the government changedadmission criteria for foreign students pursuing medical courses, the NDAgovernment started allowing persecuted religious migrants from neighbouring countriesPakistan and Bangladesh to pursue medical courses through self-financing schemesbased on their  plus two results.

“This will include religious minority migrants fromPakistan and Bangladesh based in India who can apply for MEA’s self-financingscheme for MBBS/MD courses for foreigners from developing countries since lastyear”, sources said.
