Manipur government to appoint 341 medical officers
To meet the shortage of doctors, Manipur government has decided to appoint 341 medical officers through direct recruitment by lifting the ban on fresh recruitment of employees, state Education Minister M. Okendro said today.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh yesterday, he told reporters.

An advertisement for the direct recruitment of medical officers would be soon put out by the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), he said.

The sanctioned post of medical officers was 966 but at present there were only 625 medical officers under the state government, the minister said.

Of them, 122 were pursuing post graduate courses, he said.

Official sources said there was a ban on recruitment of employees in all government departments, except the home department, due to funds crunch.
