The non-banking financial company will offer scholarships to 100 talented students from financially downtrodden families, the company's vice president Kaushik Sinha said.
"We will be giving Rs 50,000 every year to those studying special courses like medical, engineering and CA for the entire period of their study," he said at a press meet today.
For those opting BSc streams, the annual stipend will be Rs 25,000 and for BCom and BA courses, it will be Rs 20,000.
Magma Fincorp will review the academic activity of the students every year to ensure they meet the stipulated criteria to continue with the scholarship, he said, adding that 47 of the 100 recipients hail from the eastern region.
Monojit Bit of Bankura, who topped Higher Secondary examinations in 2017, wants to become a Chartered Accountant.
But financial crunch was getting in the way of his career.
The Bankura boy, who lost his father in 2013, is now hopeful of living his dream with the stipend.
"I have always wanted to be a Chartered Accountant but did not have enough money to fund my education. The scholarship is a blessing for me. I can't wait to live my dream," he said.
