The Indian Air Force's 12 Mirage-2000 aircraft dropped 1,000 kilograms of bombs at the camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed. For the attack, the selection of Mirage-2000 aircraft by the Air Force was also a part of a deliberate strategy.
Know the speciality of the Mirage-2000 aircraft-
The Mirage-2000 aircraft was built by a French company - Dassault Aviation. This is the same company that has created Raphael, which has taken hold of Indian politics even today. Mirage-2000 is the fourth generation multirole, single-engine fighter plane. Its first flight was held in the year 1970. This fighter plane is serving in almost nine countries.
However, it is updated from time to time. As of 2009, more than 600 Mirage-2000 are serving worldwide.
France has agreed to 1.9 billion dollars to upgrade a fleet of approximately 51 Mirage 2000 aircraft operated by the Indian Air Force. It was announced in June 2011 that the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) will consider upgrading the IAF's Mirage-2000. After which this agreement was made.
India has purchased Mirage 2000 to prevent Pak's F16
After giving Pakistan the best aircraft to the F-16 of the time by the US, India had started negotiations regarding the purchase of Mirage 2000 in France. In October 1982, India ordered Dassault for 36 single-seat Mirage-2000 Hs and 4 twin-seat Mirage 2000 THs.
Earlier, negotiations with France were going on for the purchase of 150 aircraft, which was manufactured jointly with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. India had the option of producing several Mirage 2000 under license, which was later over due to the country's close relationship with the Soviet Union.
With the delivery of the first seven aircraft of No. 7 Squadron on June 29, 1985, the Indian Air Force became the first foreign army to have the Mirage 2000 aircraft. Initially, this aircraft had the Snecma M53-5 engine, which was later replaced with the M53 P-2 engine.
Mirage was the second squadron number 1 Squadron to change in 2000. This is known as The Tigers. It was formally incorporated in the IAF in 1986
