IITian is present in every stream doing excel, even in the field of politics, several IITians can be found. Few of the IITians seized their opportunity to work for the country by joining the politics.

Manohar Parrikar (78 batch of IIT Bombay)
Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar passed away on March 19, 2019. He was the first IITian who became the Chief Minister of any state. Parrikar's simplicity and opposition to cleanliness also complimented. While being Chief Minister, it was common to see him on a two-wheeler on the streets of Goa.
Parrikar was born on December 13, 1955 in Mapusa, Goa. His full name is Manohar Gopalakrishna Parrikar. He joined the RSS in school education. After graduating from IIT, he became the Mapusa union driver at the age of 26. During this period he also became a major part of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Despite being the Chief Minister of Goa, Parrikar used to go to the assembly from a two-wheeler. Even during the defence minister, he used to travel only in the economy clauses in the plane. Parrikar is the leader of the country whose image is immaculate. His name did not come in any scam.
Arvind Kejriwal (89 batch of IIT Kharagpur)
National convenor of Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was born on August 16, 1968, in Hisar city of Haryana. His journey to become a chief minister has been very interesting.
Born in Hisar, Arvind Kejriwal graduated in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1989. In the year 1992, he came to the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), a part of the Indian Civil Service (ICS), and was appointed to the Income Tax Commissioner in Delhi.
Jairam Ramesh (75 batch of IIT Bombay)
He is a Congress leader and former union minister. Jairam Ramesh graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Bombay in 1975.
Born on April 9, 1954 in Karnataka, India
Jairam Ramesh is a Member of Parliament representing the State of Andhra Pradesh in Rajya Sabha. He was elected to the Union Council of Ministers of India. Jairam Ramesh led the party's poll strategy panel in February 2009 with 15th Lok Sabha elections. He was given independent charge of environment and forest as Minister of State in the Congress-led administration. Jairam Ramesh was "Establishment Day Committee" of All India Congress Committee. In July 2011, he was promoted as Cabinet Minister and removed from the post of in-charge of Rural Development Ministry.
Ajit Singh:
Born on 12 February 1939 in Uttar Pradesh. BTech from Lucknow University, BTech from IIT Kharagpur, MS Completed with the Illinois Institute of Technology.
He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1986. Ajit Singh is the founder and chief of National Lok Dal in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was the President of Lokdhani and Janata Party in 1987 and 1988. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Baghpat in 1989 and was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in the Indian general election in 1991.
In Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government, he was the Agriculture Minister. He was Minister of Civil Aviation from December 2011 to May 2014.
Sudheendra Kulkarni-
Born in Athani, Karnataka, India. IIT Bombay graduated. Kulkarni is an Indian politician and columnist. He is a former member of the Communist Party of India. Bharatiya Janata Party joined by Kulkarni in 1996 and resigned in 2009. There are also some IITian who became politicians in India like Nandan Nilekani, Krishnakant, Ved Prakash Goyal, Raghuram Rajan and others.
